Usc over NOTRE DAME, giving 8:

Irish were able to get away with just five completions from QB Brady Quinn last week because Julius Jones was so good and Pitt's offense so mediocre. Trojans have too much firepower for ND, even in South Bend.

OHIO STATE over Iowa, giving 3 1/2:

Hawkeyes come off a bye looking to jump-start an offense that is ranked No. 95 nationally. But their strength (RB Fred Russell) plays right into Ohio State's (run defense). Buckeyes bounce back comfortably.

Washington State over STANFORD, giving 10:

Cougars QB Matt Kegel has a shoulder problem but should play. Anyway, it's WSU's defense that wins this, after holding Arizona to 65 yards rushing last week. Stanford's offense has sputtered since Pac-10 play began.

Boston College over SYRACUSE, giving 3 1/2:

Will there be bad feelings on the field because of BC's decision to bolt to the ACC? Probably not. Syracuse has bigger things to worry about -- like its season slipping away. Eagles have been tested already and passed.

Texas A&M over NEBRASKA, taking 10 1/2:

Where was the Huskers' vaunted defense against Missouri last week? Aggies, with QB Reggie McNeal, can present some of the same problems the Tigers did. Watching Nebraska play catch-up by passing is painful.

ARKANSAS over Florida, giving 5:

Razorbacks shouldn't be sulking after last week's 10-3 home loss to Auburn since the Gators helped them by winning at LSU. Arkansas' offense failed last week, but not its defense, which will give QB Chris Leak fits here.

WISCONSIN over Purdue, pick 'em:

Badgers should get QB Jim Sorgi back and might have RB Anthony Davis again as well. Boilermakers come off four straight home victories against teams that are a combined 6-20. And RB Jerod Void (ankle) is iffy.

Florida State over VIRGINIA, giving 8:

It's back to the ACC for FSU, which means back to winning. Cavs may have been caught looking ahead to this last week -- or just might not be that good. It won't help if hobbled Wali Lundy, the ACC's leading rusher, can't go.

Evereything loks good except your ND play, Pitt has the best offence in the country, ND has a great defence and the place will be rockin, TY beat USC with less talent at Stanford.
